I bet I had you going didn't I? Who in the heck is Frank and why haven't you all met him!? Well...if you have tried our products its likely you have come across Frank in many of them! Seriously though, it is a love affair! Frank is my absolute hands-down favorite essential oil!
Frankincense essential oil hails from an aromatic resin that is derived from the Boswellia family of trees. These trees are native to certain regions of Africa and the Middle East. The gummy sticky resin oozes from the bark of the tree when the bark is cut. The oil is procured from the dried resin. This oil has a sweet, earthy and slightly woodsy scent that I adore! This lovely aroma is often used by perfumists and cosmetic manufacturers around the globe! In fact, the name frankincense is French for "high-quality incense". So why do I love it so much? Let's chat about three of its benefits that got me hooked:
1. This is probably my favorite reason for falling in love with this essential oil: it can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and skin imperfections such as age spots, brown spots and general discoloration! It also helps to stimulate cell growth and promotes faster healing of skin blemishes. This is how our Frankly Beautiful Face Serum derived its name and why our customers keep coming back for more of this liquid gold! At age 46 I am all about maintaining that "youthful glow"!
2. When used in aromatherapy, Frankincense can enhance mood and help decrease anxiety. The sweet woodsy aroma is calming. I love diffusing Frank in our home. It also can serve as an expectorant and can help clear congested sinuses. (This is probably a good time to let you know we will be adding a new line of decongestant shower steamers using frank, menthol and lavender essential oils in December)
3. It has anti-inflammatory properties. As a nurse, this one really captured my eye during my research. It has the ability to soothe irritated red skin and helps to reduce the sensation of itching. Due to its disinfecting properties it has the ability to clean and tighten pores! Because of its ability to stimulate cell growth, stimulate blood flow and ease skin redness it has become the hero of our serums, facial soaps, salves and body oils!
I want you to fall in love with Frank too! Here are a couple of my tried and true diffuser blends! I use a 100 ml diffuser and recommend 3-5 drops of essential oil. More is NOT better. Start with only 2-3 drops if you are new to diffusing to see how you like it!
